Kansas City Baroque
a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
Did you know that KC Baroque is our community's only locally based period ensemble?
Established in 2009, and formed as a non-profit in 2016, it is the only professional early music ensemble of its size within 500 miles of Kansas City.
Your generous support is essential not only for our annual Summer Concert Series
but also supports Community Outreach into the schools, Free Community Concerts,
and our Collaborative Concerts with area organizations. We also regularly commission new works as part of our New Music for Old Instruments Initiative!

Where Your Money Goes
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Our Community Outreach Program continues to be an integral part of our service to
the greater Kansas City metropolitan area providing free In-School visits, Community Concerts,
and support for our Community Collaborative Concerts.
In-School Performances and Workshops
We focus our educational engagement with students in school districts and programs
that are in most need of support,
offering in-school performances, coaching sessions, workshops, and more.
This year we will also offer a specialized workshop for advanced students
and local professional players to explore historically informed performance practice.
Community Concerts
Providing to the Kansas City community free access to live performances is a core part of our mission.
Whether it’s an annual concert presented free to the public or performances in outlying areas,
these free concerts are a way we ensure the arts are accessible to all.
Community Collaborations
Frequent joint performances with some of the finest choral ensembles in the area continue to be
a highlight of every season. Frequent collaborators include Te Deum Chamber Ensemble, Cardinalis,
Musica Vocale, UMKC’s vocal programs, the annual Bachathon sponsored by the
Greater Kansas City Chapter of the American Guild of Organists,
and the annual Messiah Sing Along presented by Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral.
These Outreach Initiatives enrich our appreciation of the arts, and build knowledge and expands our awarenes and understanding through the exploration of how music connects us to history, science, physics, economics, and more! These connections are an important part of KC Baroque’s vision
and are made possible through your generous support.
NEW MUSIC FOR OLD INSTRUMENTS
INITIATIVE
Support for our commissioning initiative that presents new compositions written for period instruments is a way of exploring the unique sound of authentic instruments juxtaposed with contemporary musical language.
Our past commissions:
2017: Ian David Coleman, Between Silence and Light
2018: Anthony Maglione: I Am Silent
2019: Ingrid Stölzel: But a Day
2022: Michael Welsh: Asiniig
ANNUAL SUMMER SERIES
Our critically acclaimed Summer Series offers a fascinating exploration of Baroque masterworks, both well-known, and those rarely performed. Recognized for programming that illuminates the historical significance
of works between 1575 and 1825, our concerts also reveal the rare gems that
have remained overlooked for centuries
